Dr. L'Tanya Sloan has a national reputation as a national speaker and an expert in the design of technology systems that support increased accountability and the development of educational accountability systems for major school districts throughout the country. As schools increasingly focus on state standards and specific measurements of student achievement, The ED-TECH Group is working with them to assess the technology and systems that measure their progress. She has led major technology corporations during her career. She is the former Vice President of Education and Technology for BTG in Fairfax, Virginia, and the former Vice President of Educational Accountability for TEACHSCAPE, in New York. Dr. Sloan is also the former Sr. Director of Education and Technology for GMRI, a systems integration firm located in Manassas, Virginia.
Dr. Sloan has broad experience as an educator, including serving as an elementary school principal in Atlanta, Georgia, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in Baltimore City, Maryland, and Chief of Educational Accountability, Research, Evaluation & Assessment for the Baltimore City Public Schools. In these positions, she designed educational programs driven by standards and specific accountability measures, while coordinating the required support services for schools, the school community, and school district personnel. Her business experience includes working with major corporations that provide solutions within the education market throughout America and in Ghana. She worked on the design of accountability systems that measured the degree to which students became "smarter" as result of the services and products provided by those corporations. These systems were built on a technology infrastructure that allowed dramatic improvement in the delivery of classroom instruction and in teacher accountability.
Dr. Sloan holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instructional Specialist Certification, M.Ed. in Educational Administration, M.Ed in Educational Supervision, and B.A. in English.
She is also on the board of
the U.S. Dream Academy operating primarily to bring the best technology solutions to the children of prisoners.
